Recommended by the Scholarship and Student Aid Committee
Approved by University Council: April 18, 1988
Approved by the President: April 18, 1988
The University Council, on April 18, unanimously approved a resolution changing the name of the Scholarship and Student Aid Committee to the Scholarships and Financial Aid Committee. The Committee does not grant athletic scholarships to student athletes, and this name change is intended to reduce confusion with the Student Aid Association which is involved with athletic scholarships.
Following is the text of the resolution as adopted by Council.
Whereas, the term "Student Aid" could lead to confusion with the athletic scholarships, and
Whereas, the committee deals with both need-based financial aid and with merit-based scholarships, and
Whereas, the Office of Financial Aid was renamed to the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid to more clearly convey the responsibilities of that office and to remove the stigma of need based aid from those served by that office,
Be it therefore resolved, that the name of the Scholarship and Student Aid Committee be changed to Scholarships and Financial Aid Committee.
