Recommended by the Commission on Student Affairs
Approved by University Council: December 3, 1979
Approved by the Board of Visitors: February 11, 1980
Effective: 1980-81 Academic Year
The Board of Visitors gave final approval at its February meeting of a number of changes in University Policies for Student Life, as recommended by University Council, the Commission on Student Affairs, and the Residence Hall Federation. The changes include one of substance which will permit visitation in the residence halls from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Current policy permits visitation on those days from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.
The Board also approved ten changes of minor substance to bring the policies into line with legal and administrative requirements; these changes relate to principles underlying University Policies for Student Life, interpretation of these policies, individual standards of conduct, off-campus housing regulations, family education rights, the Privacy Act, the Commission on Student Affairs, and signs, literature, and speeches.
Copies of the rather lengthy changes can be obtained by interested faculty from the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs. The policies are to be printed in brochure form and distributed to students during the summer.
