The University Council on June 5, 1978, approved a revised version of the policy concerning the rescheduling of conflicting examinations. The Commission's original version had made reference to: "...more than five hours of officially scheduled examinations in one day..." The approved policy would permit:
"A student with conflicting examinations, or with more than two examinations scheduled in any 24 hour period, may reschedule an examination with permission sought by the student from the student's college dean not later than two weeks before the beginning of the examination period and by arrangement with the appropriate instructor. No fee will be charged."
In approving this new policy, I concur with the sense of the University Council that a student's academic performance should not be jeopardized by a burdensome examination schedule.
