Recommended by the Commission on Student Affairs
Approved by University Council: January 9, 1978
Approved by the Board of Visitors: February 3, 1978
Effective: 1978-79 Academic Year
By action of the Board of Visitors, University Policies for Student Life have been amended, effective with the 1978-79 academic year, to extend room visitation hours in authorized residence halls to three additional evenings per week. This means that room visitation privileges will be possible every evening of the week.
During the current academic year, in those residence halls which permit visitation by members of the opposite sex in individual rooms, hours for Open House are from noon to 2:00 a.m. Fridays; 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m. Saturdays; 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Sundays; and 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Tuesdays.
Under the revised policies for the 1978-79 academic year, these same hours and regulations will continue; in addition, Open House hours will be extended to cover the hours from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
This action was taken partly as a result of a year-long study and experiment with Tuesday night visitation. The study indicated that limited week night visitation worked well and did not interfere with studies.
